Gas Prices Around The Country
October 4, 2008 – 10:20 amGas prices have fluctuated a lot lately. Gas prices have increased in some areas and decreased in other areas. People around the country are still paying ridiculous amounts of money to fill up their car. Let’s take a closer look at the gas prices in individual regions around the country.
Northeast
For the most part, gas prices in the Northeast range from low to moderate. Massachusetts and , Vermont and parts of Pennsylvania are paying less than $3.31 per gallon. Other counties in the Northeast region are paying about $3.50-$3.60 per gallon.
Southeast
Gas in the Southeast region of the United States is extremely high. South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Alabama are paying more than $3.95 in some areas. Hurricane Ike has contributed to the South’s gas prices. Surprisingly, Mississippi is paying extremely low prices for gas, compared to other areas around the country.
Midwest
Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska are paying the lowest prices for fuel around the country. On average, the majority of counties in these states are paying less than $3.30 per gallon. Other Midwest states are paying between $3.50 and $3.65 for gas.
West
Gas prices in the West are virtually the same. Arizona is paying about $3.45 for every gallon of gas. Every other state is paying between $3.55 and $3.80 for the lowest grade unleaded gas. Gas prices in Utah were extremely high until the governor specifically called for an investigation of gas prices. Since then, gas prices continue to decrease. California is paying about $3.84 for gas. But, gas in California always seems to be a bit higher than anywhere else.
Northwest
Gas prices in the Northwest region of the country compares with parts of the West. People who live in this region pay, on average, $3.65 for their gas.
As you can see, most parts are the country are paying less than they were a few months ago. However, we are still paying record high gas prices. Find out how you can increase the gas efficiency of your car and get more mileage out of every tank of gas.
